Results of determination of the mechanical characteristics of some aromatic polyamides by the method of free damped oscillations in the range minus 190 to plus 400 C are described. Mechanical oscillations were converted into an electrical signal by means of a flat selsyn. Temperature dependences are given of the mechanical loss tangent and shear modulus for amorphous and partially crystallized polyamide and for some copolymers. Extensive experimental data are presented and discussed.
