A study was conducted to develop a model of stress distribution in a tensile specimen with stress concentration using composite laminates. Specimens were made using three types of composite prepregs, two stacking sequences, and three types of stress concentrations. It was found that the already modified Whitney-Nuismer point stress criteria could be further modified to provide a very good approximation of stress distribution for composite laminates with a square hole.
