Design and synthesis of hybrid organic-inorganic networks, where both components are chemically bonded, are reported. These nano composites can be obtained by hydrolysis and condensation reactions of organically functionalized alkoxide precursors. Striking examples, taken from silicon, tin and transition metal alkoxide chemistry, are presented.
