STACK SAMPLING FOR SMALL BOILERS.

Industry has been sampling boiler stack discharges for many years to make sure it complies with source discharge standards. Sampling is also used to monitor combustion efficiency and provide data to help specify pollution-control equipment for similar facilities. Normally, sampling programs are required for boilers which produce more than 250-million British thermal units (Btu's) per-hour heat input. However, there appears to be a dearth of information on smaller boilers which can be used to obtain preliminary engineering and cost factors. This article discusses various aspects of developing a selective emission monitoring program for small boilers.
