Samples of a refractory copper ore were examined to test their response to segregation roasting, flotation, and acetonitrile leaching. Recoveries in the segregation roasting stage were between 60 and 100 percent, while flotation recoveries varied between 60 and 85 percent in cleaner concentrates assaying 25-40 per cent copper. The fraction of the copper which could be leached from the concentrate b an acetonitrile/sulphuric acid/cupric ion leach solution varied from 16 to 97 percent, the lower recoveries being correlated with the presence of sulphide in the concentrate.
