A description is given of the special measures required for the construction of a natural-draft cooling tower for seawater cooling of a 160-MW power plant in Atlantic City, N. J. These measures concerned the protection of the reinforced concrete surface, the heat-transfer elements, and the water distribution system from salt water corrosion; measures required by the special physical properties of seawater; and measures concerned with spray loss and smoke emission control from a seawater cooling tower.
