Mecanical attrition of solid particles in turbulent flow under the wall-particle collisions

A problem of crushing of the disperse solid particles impacting on a wall in turbulent fluid is analyzed. The consideration is based on the flow model of 'downsweep' in the wall region and the theory of impact. The attrition rate dependence on particle size, elastic and strength properties of material, and some characteristics of turbulent layer is found. It is shown there is no crushing for small particles, the intensity of fragment production is approximately constant and the attrition rate is proportional to particle size.
