The article briefly reviews wire manufacture and technological solutions to processing problems including continuous casting of steel. A statistical section gives EEC crude steel production 1970-1982; crude steel production by end use in the Federal Republic of Germany 1978 and 1982; and market supply of wire rod 1968-1983.
