Common-view GPS time transfer using conventional single channel and multi-channel GPS receivers

This paper reports the results of time transfers between the New Zealand and Australian national standards laboratories using both conventional GPS time transfer receivers, and multi-channel GPS receivers programmed to emulate the common-view single channel mode of operation. These two types of receivers have been in operation for around 18 months. The results show that the low cost multi-channel GPS receivers are capable of transferring time with an uncertainty comparable to the old single channel time transfer receivers.
