A phase retrieval algorithm is developed to generate an approximation of an image that has correct Fourier real-plane zero and Fourier magnitude, but falls short of a global solution because is general it does not satisfy image constraints. When used as an initial guess into existing iterative algorithms it gives improved phase retrieval results.
