Reverse osmosis systems combined with demineralizers have proved cost-effective in power plant feedwater use with everything from city water to municipal sewage since early successes were reported in 1971. Reverse osmosis also has been found effective when used with demineralizers to treat feedwater for intermediate-pressure boilers.
