A review of the mechanisms of intercrystalline corrosion is followed by consideration of the suitability of different solutions used in testing for this type of corrosion. The aggravating effect of superposition of mechanical fatigue stresses on corrosive conditions is also discussed. Representative experimental data are plotted for 18Cr-8Ni steels.
