Alternating iteration method for solving the Laplace equation

A simple, fast semi-analytical method is introduced for solving boundary value problems involving the Laplace equation. This method used parts of the boundary condition alternatively to obtain the final solution satisfying the real boundary condition. This method results in a series form of the solution that is easy to compute. The method was used to solve several engineering examples with boundary conditions of the first and the second kinds and various domains including circles, circles with several holes, and cylinders with a spherical cutout. These examples, required a maximum of 21 terms and 10 cycles of the boundary conditions to get accurate results. The results show that the method is a practical way to solve Laplace boundary value problems.
