The aim of the paper is to investigate the nature of small variations of the relaxation oscillation of an oscillator on the base of transmission line section and a diode with negative resistance. It is studied the effect of separate parameters of the oscillator on its frequency stability and is determined the cause of random variations of the relaxation oscillation period. Measures are recommended for increasing the oscillator frequency stability. The conclusion is made that using the proposed oscillator model it is possible to eliminate the effect of the diode parasitic reactivity on the relaxation oscillation period.
