The paper concerns reliability assessment of old mad and railway bridges for which design documentation does not exist and detailed structure inventory is not available. For elements of these bridges the allowable service load is defined by present bridge load standard with the use of probability approach. It is assumed that loading capacity of analysed element and internal forces are independent random variables functions. It allows for parametric analysis of structural elements. The author of the paper considers the bridge spans not being modernized or/and strengthened during the time of service. Presented solutions are the basis for the computer system, which is being created for evaluation of loading capacity of railway bridges.
