Investigations into the non-vacuum electron-beam welding of aluminium alloys in the high-speed range are described. Using a rotating traversing device, joints could be manufactured on the AlMg5Mn and AlMg0.4Sil.2 alloys at welding speeds of up to 60 m/min. With optimized parameters, it was possible to manufacture in a reliably reproducible way on both alloys crack-free and pore-free welds whose mechanical-technological properties do not exhibit any serious deviations from the values of the parent metal.
