Virtual teams are groups of people working closely together despite being geographically separated. The primary interaction of these teams is through technologies such as telephone, overnight mail, fax, shared database, the Internet, e-mail, PC-to-PC hook-ups, shared computer screens, and video conferencing. Used effectively, virtual teams can realize significant benefits or payoffs.
