In all actual refrigerating processes thermodynamic energy losses will occur which will cause an additional demand of useful energy. The amount of these losses can be quantitatively found with the help of the exergy, so that it becomes possible to judge which of the losses is the most worthwhile, aiming at their reduction. In the article a working scheme and the thermodynamic relation are developed, which serve as the basis for the computation of the various exergy losses. These are calculated in an example for a refrigerating plant, which refrigerates a cool room. The energetic efficiency of the plant is just 16%; it is therefore fairly low. 8 refs.
