According to ASTM, various fractions of eight sintered magnesia specimens and two fused magnesia samples (without lime according to X-ray) were hydrated in autoclaves at different pressures. The tendency to hydration was given as an increase in mass, while the particle break-down was shown by sieve analysis. The tendency to hydration of the raw materials examined varied greatly.
