The No. 2 wire rod mill has been upgraded by the installation of a Kocks 3-roll Reducing & Sizing Block as prefinishing block for the wire rod outlet and as finishing block for the bar in coil production. This has led to increased production, improved product quality, higher mill availability, higher yield, lower production costs and increased flexibility. During the three years of operation after the revamped mill went back into full production, roughly 1.2 million t of bars have been successfully rolled in the 3-roll Reducing & Sizing Block.
