DENSITY OF SiO2-MnO-CaF2 FLUXES FOR SUBMERGED ARC WELDING.

Equations to calculate the room temperature density of the fused SiO//2-MnO-CaF//2 fluxes from their chemical composition were derived. First, an equation based on the additive law was examined using density factors examined in a preceding paper. For calculation, the chemical composition of the fluxes and actual density measured by an air picnometer were put into the additive equation. The density factor for CaF//2 was determined as 2. 97. Secondly, the multiple regression equation was applied. In this case, the actual density and the chemical composition were treated by a computer to obtain the regression coefficients and the constants. Consequently, the deviation range of the calculated density from the actual one was found.
