Satellite observations of starlight refraction near the earth's horizon can be used to determine the direction of the horizon for purposes of autonomous satellite navigation. Instead of measuring the refraction angles directly, it is proposed that they be estimated by using measurements of the difference in arrival times of the starlight flux variations at two different wavelengths. The potential accuracy of this method in providing data on refraction angles is estimated.
