SPACED BONDING IN NONWOVENS.

Nonwovens assembled from filamentary elements flocked with wood pulp fibers comprising at least 50% of the composition have been demonstrated to have a unique balance of textile-like comfort properties. These properties are believed attributable to the morphology of the spaced bonds formed when utilizing the adhesive layer on the individual filaments to bond the nonwoven structure. Essentially all of the filament junctions were found to have filament - adhesive-pulp-adhesive-filament bonds, thus allowing interfilament movement analogous to the frictional ″bonds″ found in textile fabrics.
