The newly developed barium glasses (barium crown 8, light barium flint 10, barium flint 17, and dense barium flint 11) contain silicon oxide, alkaline oxides, boric acid, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, calcium oxide, aluminum oxide, and barium oxide. Barium oxide has approximately the same influence on the refractive index as lead oxide but it does not substantially increase dispersion.
