The Nd-doped laser materials have been used widely in several important fields recently, nevertheless, there is still lack of an overall and systematic cross comparison among the Nd-doped laser crystals. Therefore, a systematic comparison of the main Nd3+: laser crystals focused by the researchers is made, and the characteristics in their performances are summarized in connection with their applications in different lasers. The Nddoped laser crystals concerned cover the Nd:Y3Al5O12 (Nd:YAG), Nd:Gd3Ga5O12, Cr·Nd:GSGG and its series, Nd:Ca3(Nb, Ga)2Ga3O12, Nd:YAlO3, Nd:LaMgAl11O19, Nd:La2Be2O5, Nd:YVO4 and Nd:GdVO4, Nd:Ca5 (PO4)3F and Nd:Sr5(VO4)3F, Nd:YLiF4, Nd:GdLiF4 and Nd:YKF4, Nd:LiNbO3 and Nd:MgO·LiNbO3, as well as Nd:YAl3(BO3)4 and Nd:LaSc3(BO3)4.
