Corrosion phenomena in refractory materials during their utilization in the ceramic kilns

After a general introduction on the importance of refractory materials, this work describes the corrosive phenomena that occur in kilns used for firing ceramic bodies. Some examples of morphological-structural changes are included and the factors that affect the wear of kilns are examined as well. Finally, a report is also given about the testing methods adopted for studying the behavior in-use of the refractories and their corrosion mechanism.
