The article discusses how the Department of Public Works of Los Angeles County, California, is budgeting for contract assistance in maintaining its flood control system. One of the selected firms, National Plant Services, Long Beach, is called on for both routine and emergency tasks selected for crews, on site usually within a day on contact, benefit the county by providing highly productive equipment and expert extra support. Subjects covered include the flood control system and system components, maintenance procedures, equipment, and others.
