The effect of microstructure on the compensation of fluctuations in concentration, on exceeding beta transus and on the formation of martensite have been studied with two charges which differed in amount, grain size and morphology of the beta -phase. The kinetics of the phase transformations are summarized in isothermal and continuous TTT-plots.
