A method to approach towards the determination of the commencement of intensive steam generation in a pipe has been outlined. The paper considers water boiling in a long uniformly heated pipe, including the mechanism for the formation of steam bubbles and the fixation the commencement of intensive steam generation. A scheme has been given to show bubble boiling in the pipe and variation of parameters along its length. Approximated formulae have been obtained analytically to determine the commencement of intensive steam generation with underheated water boiling in a uniformly heated lengthy pipe. It is pointed out that the formulae are in agreement with empirical dependencies suggested earlier.
