摘要
A data communication network has been developed in the United States for the interchange of information between normally incompatible terminals. Access to this store and forward packet-switched data network is via a front end processor which also performs the compatibility conversion between dissimilar terminals. This article describes the functions, capabilities, organization, and operation of the front end processor.
