UPDATE ON SPAIN'S ELECTRONIC INDUSTRY.

Spanish firms currently fill local needs for most of the basic materials and components, but advanced types of components and production/test equipment generally are imported. The importance of foreign suppliers should continue for the foreseable future. Neither the Spanish government nor private industry has made major moves toward either developing specialized component production equipment or organizing the present suppliers.
