Temperature and Strain Rate Dependence of the Yield Strength of alpha Copper Alloys.

Reference is made to previous work which has shown that the temperature and strain rate dependence of yield strength can be expressed by the same simple power laws for all binary alpha copper alloys. The corresponding effect of temperature on the strain rate sensitivity is now calculated in good agreement with the experimental findings. The estimated free activation enthalpies which are characteristic for the deformation process show values of nearly 1. 6 ev for alloys of copper with Al, Ga, Ge, As, In, and Sn.
