This paper dealt with the features for boriding process of austenitic stainless steel and powder boriding process for 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel was also studied. The test results indicate that the key for obtaining the integral borided layer on the surface of stainless steel is to remove the passivated film on the steel and to control the activity of boriding agent. Boriding process of stainless steel has been used successfully in industrial production with obvious economic beneficial results.
