Electric mining machines have advantages compared with diesel powered equipment: they are reliable, economical, and can utilize large power inputs. However when moving electrical machines about the mine site, cable handling can pose problems due to the large sizes and long lengths involved. Practical methods developed at a strip mine in Wyoming to solve these difficulties are described in this article.
