摘要
The work of Dr. Hermann Oestrich, one of the pioneers of turbojet engineering, is summed up first. In Germany, he developed with his team the turbojet engine BMW 003 A, which was built in series from 1943 to 1945. After the war, a turbojet engine, type ATAR 101, was created under his responsibility in the French firm SNECMA of which he was technical director between 1950 and 1960. Recalling a few events in relation to the original development of turbojet engines, an attempt is made to sketch a portion of European aeronautical history. In the second part of the paper, technical-scientific problems are discussed by model studies, which are of importance for present turbojet development.
