摘要
The use of a 250-watt carbon dioxide laser to rough-cut aircraft structural parts has been in production at Grumman Aerospace Corporation since 1971. The equipment modifications and tooling requirements to adapt this process to production for both flat and formed parts are discussed. The impact of higher laser power levels on cost and performance is evaluated. Typical applications to a variety of aircraft parts are shown to illustrate the range of applications.
