Analysis on the load bearing capacity of tubes inside slips is necessary for the design of casing string in oil well, especially for that of deep well and ultra-deep well. An analytic method for the load bearing capacity of tubes inside slips is proposed. When the tubes are taken as thin shells, the elastic load bearing capacity of tubes inside slips is calculated according to the third strength theory and fourth strength theory respectively. The result of the analytic method accords with that of finite element method and experiments on the same size of casing.
