In the Inn Valley in Bavaria, the German firm Holzner operates a ballast processing works, which produces natural and crushed sands, chippings and high-grade chippings, ballast, frost protection material, wet-mix macadam, special stones for hydraulic engineering and ornamental stones. The raw materials processed at the works are extracted in both wet and dry operations. The location of the works in the middle of a tourist resort demands extensive protection of nature and the local environment. By implementing wide-ranging recultivation measures, reducing noise and dust emissions, lowering the energy consumption and designing the facility to effectively blend into the landscape, these demands could be satisfied.
