Effect of quantum fluctuations on the stimulated raman spectrum

The relation between the statistical properties of the stimulated Raman spectrum and temporal quantum-mechanical fluctuations was studied. A model of Stokes-wave generation was proposed that takes into account stochastic changes in phase. This model is based on an assumption about generation of independent spectral modes, the number of which is determined by the ratio of duration of the Stokes pulse to the mean time of phase disturbance in the stimulated regime. The observed scatter in the band width and the spectral intervals between the fine-structure components of spectra of the backward Stokes radiation in calcite crystal was shown to agree with results of calculations within the framework of the specified model.
