Modern experimental equipment and methods developed permit obtaining full complex information on technological possibilities of burden materials. It promotes solution of the problems: 1) diagnosis and certification of properties of the materials used; 2) determination of the optimal conditions for the material reprocessing and their combinations; 3) prediction of their specific behaviour in the furnace; 4) control over the area of plasticity-viscosity ratio; 5) increase in the melting efficiency by rational use of thermomechanical and reactive properties of the coke. The information obtained is helpful for attaining the maximum efficiency of blast furnace melting and determination of bottlenecks of the technology.
