Contact surface and heat transfer coefficient in equipment with three-dimensional liquid films

The authors assumed the heat exchange surface to be an arbitrary surface with an area equal to that of a horizontal ring in calculating the heat transfer coefficients K. It is shown that there are two regimes in both of the cases investigated. A thoeretical analysis of the relationships obtained is given. In order to analyze the heat transfer process under the first regime, the authors consider the liquid film emerging from a slit distributor with a domed shape to be a body of rotation bathed by an axially symmetric gas flow. The analysis enables the authors to identify ways in which effective film-type equipment can be further upgraded and the prerequisites for a scientifically grounded design method can be created.
