Local environments of iron atoms in Fe-B and Fe-B-N systems formed by successive boron and nitrogen implantation into iron films have been studied by Mossbauer conversion electron spectroscopy (MCES). Short-range order in the formation of amorphous structures has been investigated as a function of implanted boron and nitrogen concentrations. It has been established that the short-range order in Fe-B-N systems is determined by the concentration of preliminarily incorporated boron. Threshold concentrations corresponding to the phase transformation from the magnetic to paramagnetic Fe-B phase, as well as to the decomposition of the magnetic Fe-B(B, N)m phase have been determined.
