A riser-cable system was developed to meet the 1000-m depth requirement of the floating platforms of the Campos basin project and the severe environmental conditions. The system includes a dynamic riser cable (DRC), a dynamic rig termination that connects the riser cable to the platform and a static platform cable, and a hybrid universal quick joint which connects the riser and submarine cables to the seabed. The DRC is composed of the central core (unit-fiber structure, UFS) which accommodates the optical fibers; the strength members and insulation around the core; and the outer armor layers. The DRC can survive at 2000-m water depth, and the UFS is manufactured so that maximum zero tension occurs in the optical fiber during 1000-m depth operation.
