COLD-FORMED STEEL FARM STRUCTURES. PART II: BARREL SHELLS.

The present paper, Part II of the report prepared by the Task Committee on Farm Structures of the ASCE Committee on Cold-Formed Steel members, deals with the analysis of cold-formed steel cylindrical barrel buildings. The barrel buildings are usually constructed from deep U-shaped cold-formed steel panels. The desired building curvature is usually obtained by developing small cross-corrugations in the lower part of the section. These cross-corrugations have significant effect on the performance and rigidity of the panel. The building is made of a series of arches bolted together. End plane walls are usually built to complete the system in the form of a shell supported along its four edges.
