The application of the phased array technique for the ultrasonic inspection of electric power plant by Tecnatom is discussed. The CRD from inside the control rod housing in BWR, BWR nozzles from the external surface, and turbine blade dovetail type grooves from the outer surface were some of the components inspected. The inspection of CRD from inside the control rod housing in BWR was carried out to detect and size circumferential cracks open to the external surface in the stub tube and the housing of the CRD.
