Pumping action plays an integral role in converting off colored pulp into the white end product suitable for paper manufacturing. However, doubling the pulp consistency reduces the amount of water that needs to be pumped and removed by half while creating a concomitant decrease in energy consumption. Therefore, new pumping techniques that allow higher pulp fiber slurry concentrations to be transported are needed.
