A method is described enabling the lever arm of the internal forces in the calculated ultimate state to be determined for the circular and the annular cross-section in the case of bending with or without normal force. The procedure is based on the stress resultants for flexural design, on the strains of the concrete and reinforcing steel, and on the required flexural reinforcement.
