The last contribution to this series of articles appeared in issue 7/80. The present report deals with the selection of the materials for the thermoforming tools. The following materials are investigated: synthetic resin bonded laminates, metal, aluminum and steel; the materials wood, plaster and casting resin were described in issue 7. The decision on the one or the other material is influenced by the geometry of the components and the size of the production run. This decision is facilitated by machining instructions and service life considerations.
