A computer simulation model developed for determining the manner in which various types of undesired signals affect the performance of frequency division multiplex-frequency modulation (FDM/FM) receivers is outlined. Continuous wave, FM, FDM/FM, pulse (chirped and nonchirped), binary phase shift keying and quadrature phase shift keying interference signals were modeled. In addition to these interference signals, white Gaussian noise was modeled. The desired (test tone)-to-undesired signal power ratio at the output of a user selected demultiplexer channel was one of the performance measures computed. The model was validated by comparing model predictions with measured data for a 600-channel FDM/FM system.
