Linear resonance Raman and low-wavenumber Raman spectroscopy were applied on a variety of CdSxSe1 - x doped glasses with band gap energies ranging from about 1.75 to 2.5 eV in order to determine the composition and the average size of the semiconductor crystallites. Additionally, nonlinear Raman spectra recorded by means of coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) spectroscopy are presented. No Raman resonances of semiconductor quantum dots appear to have been observed previously in nonlinear spectroscopy. The temperature dependence of the CARS spectra and the related changes in the electronic resonance conditions are discussed.
